IEA Heat Pump Centre

General Information

The IEA Heat Pump Centre is the central information activity of the IEA Heat Pump Programme. The Centre links people and organisations worldwide in support of heat pump technology and communicates through National Teams (NT) in the HPP member countries.

The HPC's role is to accelerate the implementation of heat pump technology and thereby optimise the use of energy resources for the benefit of the environment. This is achieved by offering a worldwide information service to support all those who can play a part in the implementation of heat pumping technology including researchers, engineers, manufacturers, installers, equipment users, and energy policy makers in utilities, government offices and other organisations.

The HPC covers the complete field of heat pump technology. All applications in buildings and industry are addressed - both heating-only and heating-and-cooling systems, using vapour-compression or sorption technologies. In addition, the HPC also covers related heat pumping technologies in the fields of air conditioning and refrigeration.

Activities
The HPC's work encompasses a broad spectrum of knowledge transfer activities resulting in a wide range of useful publications and information services.

Organisation
The Heat Pump Programme's member countries fund the HPC which operates on a non-profit basis. Operating under the umbrella of the International Energy Agency (IEA), the HPC is an integral part of the IEA's wider programme on heat pumping technologies - the IEA Heat Pump Programme.

The HPC is at the centre of a global network of individuals who have an influence on the application of heat pump technology. From a central office at SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden in Sweden, the HPC communicates via National Teams in its member countries. Each National Team is made up of people and organisations representing the full spectrum of national heat pump activities.

Close links have been forged with other international organisations concerned with heat pumps, including:
