The workshop was arranged by New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and Heat Pump & Thermal Storage Technology Center of Japan (HPTCJ). In the morning a technical tour was made to a district heating and cooling plant and in the afternoon presentations on the Japanese research and market development regarding heat pumps were held. The presentations covered topics such as heat pump water heaters, regulations concerning heat pump equipments, district heating and cooling with heat pumps and ground source heat pump systems. The work of the Japanese National Team was also presented.
